Benefits of Kala Chana:

Nutrient-rich: Kala Chana is a good source of protein, fiber, carbohydrates, vitamins (such as vitamin C and folate), and minerals (including manganese, phosphorus, iron, and copper). These nutrients contribute to overall health and well-being.

Boosts immune system: The abundance of vitamins and minerals in Kala Chana helps strengthen the immune system, protecting the body against illnesses and infections.

Muscle mass and strength: The protein content in Kala Chana supports muscle growth and development. It is particularly beneficial for individuals engaged in physical activities or looking to build muscle mass.

Regulates diabetes: Kala Chana has a low glycemic index, which means it causes a slower and more controlled rise in blood sugar levels. This property makes it suitable for individuals with diabetes as it helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Enhances hair, skin, and nail health: The nutrients present in Kala Chana, such as iron and copper, promote healthy hair, skin, and nails. They play a role in the production of collagen, a protein essential for maintaining the health and appearance of these body parts.

Digestive health: The high fiber content in Kala Chana aids in digestion and promotes a healthy digestive tract. Regular consumption can help prevent digestive disorders and promote regular bowel movements.

How to cook Kala Chana:

Ingredients:

1 cup Kala Chana, soaked overnight or for 8 hours
Method:

Wash the soaked Kala Chana thoroughly.

In a pressure cooker, add the soaked Kala Chana along with 2 cups of water.

Cook the Kala Chana in the pressure cooker for 7 to 8 whistles or until they become tender. Turn off the stove and allow the pressure to release naturally.

Once the pressure has been released, open the cooker and let the Kala Chana cool.

Drain out the water from the boiled Kala Chana.

You can now use the cooked Kala Chana in various recipes or eat them as desired.

Additionally, you can sprout Kala Chana by following these steps:

Soak the Kala Chana overnight.

Thoroughly wash the soaked Kala Chana.

Pack the clean and soaked Kala Chana in a clean muslin cloth.

Leave it undisturbed for about 24 hours. You will notice sprouting occurring during this time.

Once sprouted, you can use the sprouted Kala Chana in salads, curries, or eat them as a midday snack with salt and chaat masala.

Enjoy the nutritious benefits of Kala Chana in your meals!
